5 things that make me tick

1- Typography and anything design related!

I have always had a passion for design and am constantly noticing things when I’m out- the typeface on a shopfront, the colour used in a restaurant.

2- Working with Teams4U and making a difference

I absolutely love working for Teams4U in both a design sense and personal sense. Knowing that I have made such a difference to so many lives is an incredible feeling. I have made a difference by physically going to Uganda last year (was meant to be going this year but COVID...). I also love that I can still make a difference from home, by creating resources that will help educate thousands of children and hopefully enable them to stay in school.

3-Family

I am very close to my family, particularly my mum. We have a very close relationship, something that I am very grateful for. I find that especially in terms of my work having the support form my family is the most important thing for me, and my mum is the sort of person to say if she thinks something is rubbish! I think that a close relationship with family, particularly like the relationship I have with my mum is extremely important to everyone’s wellbeing, and I would be lost without mine!

4- Work

I work in a village pub/restaurant and I love it! I got my first job when I was 13 working in my Local Village pub, and since then have continued on into other restaurants. I really do love my job, I love talking to so many different people in terms of customers as well as the people I work with. Working in pubs have given me so many opportunities such as qualifications and it’s given me a huge boost in confidence, something I don’t have a lot of when I was younger. Next year I am hoping to do a WSET qualification in wine as well as working towards getting my personal license. Although I definitely want a career in design, I can’t see myself ever not working in the hospitality industry!

5- Cyprus

I have been going to North Cyprus every year since I was a baby, as some of my family have a house there. I normally go once or twice a hear. To me Cyprus feels like me second home, I know the towns and villages as if they were my own, I know the culture and I have friends there. The lifestyle is extremely different to the UK. It’s very family ordinated and there’s a much better work life balance. There isn’t much opportunities for work and design over there as it’s only a small island so I could never live there permanently, however at some point I would like to spend a longer period of time over there. When I’m in Cyprus I feel like I’ve escaped from the rest of the world and it really is a time to breathe and relax.
