I recently discovered Sarah Hyndman (otherwise known as typetasitng) over lockdown. She is a typography consultant for a range of organiisations and gives engaging talks/ workshops on the importance of typography. During lockdown I discovered that she was doing an online workshop on the topic of Gin and Typography (both things that I love!). This was a facinating talk combining both tops really well- old gin labels vs modern ones, what the typeface can tell you about the flavour. Since that talk I took part in many more of her online sessions- an 8 week type life drawing course which looked at a different typographic style each week, a type safari though East London and a Halloween type session. What I love sabot Sarah’s work and online workshops is that she makes Typography fun and appealing to anyone, not just designers. Her talks are extremely informative as well as being fun, and you have somthing to show at the end of it..
Some of my work I created during the online workshops
Because I enjoyed Sarah’s online sessions so much I went on to buy her book... which is brilliant!
’Why fonts matter’ is her bestselling book all about the psychology of typography. It explores subjects such as:
How fonts influence the decisions we make.
How different fonts affect our emotions
The way in which fonts give words and us a personality
